Bikervoice — Communication between bikers, deaf and hearing people
À propos du projet
Bikervoice was born from an encounter with the deaf and hard-of-hearing biker community, which struggles to communicate during rides. While motorcycle intercoms have become standard for biker groups, deaf people remain excluded from these exchanges. Our approach was to create an inclusive solution, universal and real-time, that breaks this barrier.
The first challenge was technical and physical: capturing voice clearly through motorcycle noise, wind and intercom. We integrated Agora for RTC voice (Real-Time Communication) and developed advanced algorithms of noise suppression specifically calibrated for motorcycle environments. Thanks to thorough on-road testing with different helmets and intercoms (Sena, Cardo, etc.), we refined the parameters to obtain clear and readable voice transcription, even at 130 km/h.
The second challenge was accessibility and inclusion: how to ensure that deaf and hearing people naturally coexist in the same chat room? We designed a bimodal interface — hearing people speak normally via their intercom, while deaf people see transcripts appear in real-time on their screen. When the speech rate becomes too dense, our ultra-fast cloud AI (Agora) automatically generates a concise summary, allowing everyone to follow the conversation without being overwhelmed.
The third dimension of Bikervoice is the geolocated social network: on the map, each biker sees group members nearby, can invite them as friends and contact them directly via WhatsApp. This allows organizing spontaneous rides, not losing anyone on the road, and creating lasting connections beyond the application.
V1 is now operational with the Course modules (riding school), Ride (free mode), Map (nearby bikers) and Network (communicate). V2 is in development, with the integration of new visual sign languages, improvements to predictive AI and collaborative route planning features.
